Lihapulla-sienipannu – Meatball-mushroom pan

A great comfort meal for us in the northern hemisphere while winter still has it’s grip on us.

Lihapulla-sienipannu - Meatball-mushroom pan

A delicious weeknight meal, one pot Finnish meatballs and mushrooms!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter.
  • 1 onion.
  • 200 grams / 7 oz fresh mushrooms.
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 2 sprigs of rosemary.

Meatballs

  • 400 grams / 14 oz ground beef.
  • 150 grams / 5 oz bread crumbs.
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper.
  • ½ - 1 teaspoon salt.
  • 2 tablespoons butter.

For serving

  • 1 dl / 3 oz lingonberries.

Instructions

  1. Slice the onion and mushrooms. Fry in butter and season with a bit of salt and the fresh rosemary.
    Put aside the onion-mushroom mixture in a dish.
  2. Mix the ground beef with bread crumbs, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Form 8 large meatballs and brown in the pan with butter.
  4. Add the onion-mushroom mixture on top of the meatballs and cover with a lid. Cook on low heat until the meatballs are cooked through.
  5. Top with lingonberries to serve.
